Who we are
Eat Me Now ("we", "us") provides the Eat Me Now mobile app, which helps you track the food
you have and cook it before it expires, and this website. For any privacy question or request,
contact us at hello@eatmenow.app.
What we collect in the app
- Photos you scan. When you scan a food item, your fridge or a receipt, the
photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, analysed to recognise food items and
expiry dates, and then discarded. Photos are processed in memory and are not stored
on our servers. Photos never leave your device unless you actively take or choose one for a scan.
- Your kitchen data. The food items you track (names, quantities, expiry
dates) and your cooking history are stored on our servers so the app can suggest recipes and
remind you before food expires.
- Food preferences. Diet, favourite cuisines, spice level, household size,
and any allergies or dislikes you tell us, stored so recipes match what you can and want to eat.
- Assistant messages. What you type or dictate to the in-app assistant is
sent to our server to generate an answer, and recent messages are kept briefly server-side so
the assistant can follow the conversation. Voice input is transcribed on your device by your
phone's built-in speech recognition; we receive only the resulting text, never the audio.
- A random device identifier. The app generates a random ID on first launch
to keep your data separate from other users'. It is not derived from your identity, your
phone's hardware IDs, or your advertising ID.
Your shopping list and notification settings stay on your device. Expiry reminders are local
notifications scheduled by the app on your phone; they don't go through our servers.
What we do NOT do
- No advertising, no trackers, no analytics SDKs, and no use of the advertising identifier (IDFA).
- We never sell your data, and we never share it with anyone except the service providers below.
- No account is required to use the app today, and we don't collect your name, email or contacts in the app.
Service providers
To provide the app's features, some data is processed by these providers on our behalf:
- Railway — hosts our server and database (your kitchen data and preferences).
- Anthropic — AI models analyse scan photos and answer assistant questions. Data
sent through Anthropic's API is not used to train their models.
- Spoonacular — recipe search; receives ingredient names only (e.g. "spinach"), never your identity.
- Open Food Facts — barcode lookups; receives the barcode number only.
The waitlist on this website
If you join the waitlist we collect the email address you submit (via Web3Forms) and use it
only to tell you about the app's launch. Unsubscribe or removal: email us and we'll delete it.
Data retention & deletion
Your kitchen data is kept until you delete it. In the app, Settings ▸ Clear all
data erases your data from your device and our servers. You can also email us and we
will delete everything tied to your device identifier.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, export, delete, or
restrict the processing of your personal data, and the right to complain to your data-protection
authority. Because allergy information can be health-related, we only store what you actively
provide and only to filter recipes. To exercise any right, email
hello@eatmenow.app.
Security
All traffic between the app, this website and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. Access
to production data is restricted to the people who operate the service.
Children
Eat Me Now is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
